July 2008

Hi everyone,  sorry to say I am taking this weekend off from the Artisans Market.  Spending some time with my 2 oldest granddaughters.  Not the easiest thing to arrange having the 2 of them together, at the same time or same place.  My younger granddaughter lives in the SE states during the school year, and will be heading back next week once again for the start of school.  She has changed alot, new haircut for one and just plain growing up!  My oldest granddaughter lives a bit closer but seems time slips by and we don’t see her either as often as we’d like to.  She too is growing up so fast, before you know it she will be going into high school.  Their having a great time seeing each other, there sure has been alot of giggling going on here!  Think today we’ll spend some time in our big backyard.  Last time we did this they had us going playing badminton for 6 hours!  Think it was a battle to see who could wear who out first?  My husband and I went from playing ’with’ them to taking turns while the other one sat down for a bit.  Looked as though the older generation was losing out.  We were all pooped out by the end of the day….’them’ included.  Only they wore it better than we did.  :-)

Whew… the weather held up for the most part, only a few sprinkles, a bit of a hazy morning, but we did manage to get some sunshine and sometimes it was getting pretty toasty.
It was great to see so many people out enjoying the vintage cars trundling around past the artisans market.
The blue dragonfly that is pictured on here, as of yesterday has found a new home.  :-)    Along with a garden fairy also in the deep blue colors.   So did several other pieces,… Congrats to all the new owners!  :-)
Whether you have been a customer or a potential customer, I do appreciate all of you for stopping at my booth, and having a look at my work.  If it’s for a friend, relative, special occasion or for yourself, you are buying something that will be enjoyed for many years to come.  That’s what makes stained glass pieces so special.     Thanks again!   Jan

As I mentioned yesterday, here’s a picture we took in our backyard of one of the dragonflies last evening.  Hope you like it,…and thanks for looking.  :-)

You can see more of my work at www.shardsandlight.com

Just been working on some dragonflies, finishing 3 large and one smaller one. I plan on getting some photos of them to post on here. The large dragonflies consist of 5 pieces of chunky glass. Their wings are made of clear textured iridized glass, which picks up the light wonderfully and gives the wings a rainbow affect.
I will have some of these at the Artisans Market in Elkhart Lake, for anyone who would like to see them…for real, or buy them?  :-)
If it’s going to get as hot as they are predicting over the next few days, I’ll be spending alot of time in the cool workshop after work. Ahhhhhhh….lol

We had beautiful weather today at the Artisans Market, quite a few people out shopping. No wind today like last week! :-) )) And no disasters either, thank goodness. I was happy to have sold several pieces today including a fun and colorful fish which I had just finished Friday night!

More of the farmers are now coming to the Market with their fresh veggies and beautiful flowers. Saw alot of people carrying some pretty colorful bouquets. Good to see everyone enjoying coming to the Market browsing and buying. Healthy veg. and fun art, what more could we want :)
I hope to see you there, come say hello,
