June 2009

It was beautiful and sunny today out at the Market in Elkhart Lake.  After we finished setting up this morning, I went around and bought some great strawberries, 2 qts. that WILL NOT last thru the weekend for sure.  M-M-M-M!  I bought some potatoes, cauliflower,  & some multi-colored lettuce, so fresh!  Everything looked so good, the farmers really know how to do it right!  :)
There were loads of people milling about, great to see so many enjoying coming to the market.   Whether you are coming out to buy some fresh veggies, or shop at our canopies where you will also find anything from wonderfully crafted jewelry,  handmade soaps, handmade cards/invitations, to  flowers either to plant in your garden, or fresh cut bouquets, to my canopy where you’ll find my variety of items handmade by ‘me’ (of course  ;)   )  in stained glass.   The day was beautiful and sunny, with a light ocassional breeze, which was welcomed as the day heated up.
The market would not be the great success like it is without all the great support we get from all of you out there attending it.
                                   :)     :)     :)

           Thank You!

Been working on a new piece, that will be colorful and bold in oranges, and warm ambers.  It is all copper foiled and ready for solderwork to be done.  Can’t wait to get this piece together, and hold it up to the light.  That part is always something to look forward to.  Last night I made some copper wire and hammered pieces for the hooks, that will be attached as functional yet decorative, and ornate.  There will  be a picture to follow…..before and after picture.  So stay tuned!      ;)

Back to the Artisan/Farmers Market tomorrow morning.  Sounds like the weather should be quite warm, and a bit breezy.  We’re having some rain and storms tonight they should be cleared out of the area by morning.
  :)

It was raining on the drive out to Elkhart Lake in the morning, but that didn’t ‘dampen’….lol, our spirits and determination.  I checked the radar online before we left home, so even if the meterologist can be, and usually is wrong……(which seems to be a common complaint whoever you talk to, and from wherever they are from!) we knew the batch of rain that was hanging around would pass, and the rest of the day looked to be getting better as time went on.
We unloaded all the stuff, tables, canopy, and all the milk crates that I pack my items in.  Setting up the canopy was a bit of a struggle.  Guess we were just a bit rusty in ‘how-to’ set it up, since we hadn’t done this since last Fall.  For anyone who has ever set-up one of those canopies you know what a struggle they can be if they decide to give you a hassle.   ;)  Ohhhhh yeah.   Set-up went a bit slow, but we got it done in the end.
A few of the farmers were there with some produce, rhubarb, lettuce, spinach etc.  Alot of familiar faces, and also some new faces this year.  Just was nice to be back out at the market again, a new start to a new season.
Stop in my canopy and see my new items this year!
Until next Saturday…………….back to the market, have a great week everyone!

Well we didn’t go to the Artisan Market Saturday due to bad weather.  It was a rainy day, in talking to other vendors they got wet and were packing up early.  Let’s hope for better weather this coming Saturday, I am planning on attending the market this week, so hope to see you there!
I have my items packed and ready to go…….  :)

‘Busy as a bee’ tonight getting things ready for the first Artisan Market at Elkhart Lake of the 2009 Season tomorrow, (Saturday June 6th).
I have been wrapping items in bubble wrap, and packing into the crates.  We have the canopy, and tables ready to go, the table coverings are in the wash and almost finished, fold them in the morning so they aren’t all wrinkly, I have laid them over a couple chairs in the basement.
The really touchy part?…….the weather, which at the moment is not looking to promising for tomorrow.  The rain forecast is changing, and not for the better.  I have been checking and watching since about Wednesday, what Saturday is likely to be.  I just checked again and the percentage is rising quite rapidly, we have gone from about 40% probability now up to 80%!  I will be on the computer again in the morning to check the radar, and what the rain is doing,  see how far to the west of us it is in the morning.  Not a good kick-off for the first sale of the season,……  :(   Wait and see……..that’s all we can do.  Mother nature always has the upper hand, and she likes to remind us of that every now and then.
  Fingers crossed for the best.
