I’ve been so looking forward to this!  Going to a glass shop, that I found online in Milwaukee,….I have vacation from my full time job so what a great way to spend it!  This is alot more exciting than clothes shopping, lol.  I know I will be in there for a good chunk of time.  This is always something I really look forward to….glass shopping.
We are also going to make a stop at a wonderful Chinese restaurant for lunch, we haven’t been to in ages.
Maybe stop off at a few art supply shops too.  My husband has gotten back into drawing/painting after a long hiatus, so he is in need of some fresh paints.  Hopefully I won’t get inspired to go back into painting too, I know that my oils/acrylics and watercolor tubes of paint have all been collecting dust too for a long time.
I have a passion for working with stained glass, and this upcoming Fall/Winter I am looking to attend some classes/workshops/seminars to broaden my horizons.

Yesterday was picture perfect weather for the market!  Amazing blue sky no clouds, and more importantly?….NO rain, and NO WIND!  Yee ha!  The sailboat panel sold, that was awesome!  In talking with the people who purchased it I know they not only have a appreciation for stained glass but will see to it that the panel has a good home.  That is what makes me happy!   :)    :)      When someone purchases a piece, that they are really satisfied.
In chatting with a gentleman from Indiana that stopped at the canopy,  he commented how good my solderwork was, (smooth bead, which does take practice, practice, practice for anyone who has tried it, you know what I mean) and that he also did stained glass work, and really struggled with that.  We discussed types of soldering irons, wattages, temperatures, types of solder, and I  gave him a few suggestions.  Shop talk, …..lol  I also wrote some information down for him, so hope that helps?
Came home and had lunch on our patio, enjoying the beautiful day, and stayed outside until well after dark.  All to soon we won’t be sitting out there, unless we care to dress up like an Eskimo?  This Summer has been a bit cooler than normal, (okay by me!) but then again alot more windy too.  The reason I have skipped more than normal being at the Art Market.   :(     Sorry but wind/canopies/stained glass just don’t mix well.

SunFace
The sunface is from cast glass, I used my glass saw to cut across the firey orange stained glass, because I wanted the continuation of the streaks in the firey orange glass.  The hefty solder line also has my initials that I embedded into the molten solder on the far left.  Artists should sign their work…..  ;)     I used copper and brass wires that I bent and hammered in various places, then tack soldered them onto the zinc frame, and sunface seam, so they are solid and cannot move.  The 2 rings for hanging are soldered onto the back of the frame.  I love this glass!  It is incredible when you get full sun coming thru from behind!  This would be a great piece to hang in a window when it is 10 below zero, and snow on the ground!  Oh please we will be experiencing that soon enough!  This would help to make you feel all warm and cozy inside, even if it’s only mentally.

We’re setting off for the Art Market this morning, the weather sounds like a Fall day!  With cool temperatures and light winds.
I was just in the workshop this morning, buffing and polishing my newest piece.  A round zinc framed sunrise sky, with a cast glass amber colored sunface offset to the left a bit.  I bent and hammered various copper/brass wires for the rays coming from a beautiful bold morning sun,….as you could imagine.  I will try to get a quick picture of it and post on here, before it sells.    :)
Last week I had a piece similiar to this one and it sold right away, so sad to say I never did manage to get a picture of that one.  :(   Guess I need to be quicker with the camera!  lol

Yesterday was finally a beautiful day for the Artisan Market in Elkhart Lake, after several Saturdays in a row of either rain/wind or both.
There were so many people around, that were busy checking out the various vendors goods for sale.  Great to see the wonderful support we get from all of you who attend.  Without you this market could not be the great success that it is,……so Thank You to everyone!
Yesterdays sales put quite a dent into my inventory!  But nothing wrong with that!   :)    See what I mean my full-time job is just simply cutting into my stained glass making time!  I will certainly try to make more items during the week for the next market.  A few of my newest items that I had just finished this past week also sold yesterday, so I was excited about that!
I have to try to get more pictures taken of my pieces for the website and get that updated too………..soon!
Thanks again for visiting my blog, go ahead and write a comment, would love to chat!  Let me know what you like, what you’d maybe like to see me make?    etc etc etc

This is really getting to be too much!   :(    Today there is a massive bad weather system moving thru the entire state, we’ve had alot of thunder and lightning this early this morning already,…..right now a lull.  Just checked the radar online and round 2 will be hitting here in another hour or so.  Let me say round 2 looks even worse, and alot bigger of an area than the first batch that just moved out of here.  This is just getting sickening to say the least!
Don’t think setting up a metal framed canopy will be a very good idea if it’s going to be lightning again later.  We might not be as lucky as Ben Franklin was!    Lol    ;)

The weather forecast is certainly looking terrible for today, rainy, and quite windy…..not a good combination for the Art Market.  Especially selling stained glass items!  I’d say it’s unfortunate,…but the wise decision is to stay home…..AGAIN!  This has not been a good summer for Saturday morning weather!  No sense in risking all the work I have stuck into my pieces, getting wet, the canopy, or anyone getting hurt.  :(    Try again next week………….bummer…..   :(

BoldOranges2

just off my workboard…..by using bold warm colors, and various glass globs, heavy gauge copper wire hammered, bent  in various places, and utilizing them for decorative and structural purposes, this is a favorite of mine.  I also left the top edge of the glass in its original state from when the glass was first poured and formed for a bit of interest.

It was beautiful and sunny today out at the Market in Elkhart Lake.  After we finished setting up this morning, I went around and bought some great strawberries, 2 qts. that WILL NOT last thru the weekend for sure.  M-M-M-M!  I bought some potatoes, cauliflower,  & some multi-colored lettuce, so fresh!  Everything looked so good, the farmers really know how to do it right!  :)
There were loads of people milling about, great to see so many enjoying coming to the market.   Whether you are coming out to buy some fresh veggies, or shop at our canopies where you will also find anything from wonderfully crafted jewelry,  handmade soaps, handmade cards/invitations, to  flowers either to plant in your garden, or fresh cut bouquets, to my canopy where you’ll find my variety of items handmade by ‘me’ (of course  ;)   )  in stained glass.   The day was beautiful and sunny, with a light ocassional breeze, which was welcomed as the day heated up.
The market would not be the great success like it is without all the great support we get from all of you out there attending it.
                                   :)     :)     :)

           Thank You!

Been working on a new piece, that will be colorful and bold in oranges, and warm ambers.  It is all copper foiled and ready for solderwork to be done.  Can’t wait to get this piece together, and hold it up to the light.  That part is always something to look forward to.  Last night I made some copper wire and hammered pieces for the hooks, that will be attached as functional yet decorative, and ornate.  There will  be a picture to follow…..before and after picture.  So stay tuned!      ;)
