September 2008

We’ll be at Elkhart Lake Artisan Market Saturday morning…..as of today just think…3 months to Christmas!!!!  Where oh where did the Summer go?
I am having 10% off “Absolutely Everything” again this Saturday.  You help me by clearing out and making room for the new items for the 2009 season.  And I help you out by saving a bit of $$$$, which is good for both of us!
So come on out and take advantage of saving some $$$$ and get started on that Christmas shopping.   🙂

It was a bit breezy today at times, and the bees were a bit of a pest, it’s that time of year, but sunny and warm.  Great to see so many people out at the Market, Fall is certainly around the corner.  One of the trees on the edge of the parking lot has beautiful colors, and some of the leaves are already dropping!  We haven’t been out to the Market in a few weeks, and driving out this morning we sure could tell the difference of the shorter days now.  It was barely getting light out when we left home!
Glad to have offered the 10% off sale, quite a few people took advantage and did some shopping.  We all like to get a bit of money off of something when we make a purchase.  I thought it a good idea to help me clear out for the season, helps to make room for new items for the 2009 season.  I am looking forward to going into hibernation, down in the workshop for the winter months.  I have some new ideas I am going to try.
Thank You to everyone who bought a piece of stained glass from me!  You have something that can be enjoyed for many years, and all “Handmade”  locally.
I will post on here later in the week again if I will be back at Elkhart Lake next Saturday…….stay tuned for the update!
If I go out next Saturday I will be continuing the 10% off ‘Absolutely Everything’ again.

Come on out ot Elkhart Lake…….. I am running a BIG sale.  Take 10% off of ‘Absolutely EVERYTHING’ !!!!!!!!!!!!!  Gives me a chance to clear out, so I can stock up over the winter months for ‘new’ items for the 2009 season, and you a chance to save some money!
It’s not to early to think about those Christmas gifts!  Or if there’s a gift you need for that birthday of someone special.  NOW is the time to save some $$$$$$$$

We’ll be at Elkhart Lake Artisan Market on Saturday.  I am really looking forward to getting back again.
I will have a few pieces that I just finished, Christmas items, (some Santas), and the Indian Corn bunches are finished and they are ready for sale too, also I managed to finish 3 butterlfies as well.
Come on out to the Market Saturday, stop at my booth……..browse and buy!   😉

I am watching the weather forecast for Saturday.  It is looking quite promising so far, especially after last weekend that was a complete washout both days.  I am anxious to get back to Saturday morning at Elkhart Lake Artisan Market.  I have missed a few weeks now, and knowing that time is running out for the season.  It’s been alot of fun being part of the vendors group, we’ve met some very nice people there.  The atmosphere is very pleasant too.  We’ve looked forward to buying a fresh piece of bakery from Roeck’s Bakery from Kiel, since their booth was not far from ours the aroma was to much to resist!  😉   We’ve bought veggies from the various farmers throughout the Summer along with some gorgeous perrenial flowers that have been added to our patch at home.  I’ll be posting on here probably on Thursday about going to Elkhart Lake Market……stay tuned!

Indian Corn

Indian Corn

Here is a picture of the Indian Corn bunch.  I think the colors in the glass, and texture are great!  This glass was extremely sharp, when working with it.  Wherever there are the little lumpy bumps, it’s like working with a extremely sharp serrated knife.  After I managed to get cut, I then wore some rubber gloves, that are puncture resistant.  This saved me from getting cut again….whew.  I have 2 of these bunches finished and ready for soldering.  Only so many hours in a day, so tonight I at least got them copper foiled.  I also copper foiled 3 butterflies, and cut out bodies for each of them from copper sheeting, embossed from the back adding some texture.  Once tinned, they will be soldered to the butterfly bodies, the next step is patina the metalwork, then use very fine steel wool to lightly buff  to bring out the textures.    After all of that, they are ready for the final wax process.  Everything gets a finishing wax, buff and polish.  Now ready to be sold.
I won’t be going to Elkhart Lake again this Saturday for the Artisans Market.  They are predicting rain for the day.  Sorry to say…   😦
Hopefully next weekend will be looking better?
Have a great Weekend everyone!   🙂

I just cut more glass tonight for some bunches of indian corn.  The glass I just bought, has a wonderful texture that looks just like kernels of corn, and in beautiful shades of oranges, russets, and browns.  These will look great to hanging in someones window for Fall.  It’s going to be a bit tricky copper foiling the textured glass for the corn, with the heavy texture that it has.  Oh well,…keeps me out of trouble!  lol   I am using a green glass for the leaves that has some browns in it, so they look like end of the season corn leaves.  It really is starting to have the feel of Fall in the air already too.  Cool nights and not so warm days.  One of my favorite times of the year is…. Fall.   Colorful trees, the pumpkins, going for long walks in the woods, feeling the warmth of the sun and the wonderful smell leaves, hearing the rustle of leaves blowing in the wind.  What is your favorite time of year?…..

Sorry to say that I won’t be able to go to Elkahart Lake Artisan Market this week.  My other job is putting a damper on me going.    😦    I would really like to get out there next weekend.  There are not to many more Saturdays left for the Market this season.  I will try to be there next Saturday September 13th.  Please check back about Thursday to see whether I will be there.
I cut glass last night, for some butterflies.  It’s been awhile since I had some for sale.  They will be finished for the next sale at Elkhart Lake.
I will also be working on a large heart for a lady who stopped at my booth when at Elkhart Lake, seems her birthday is on Valentines Day she bought a smaller heart and wanted a larger one just like the one she bought.  The red colors were very bold, and some of the glass was textured.
  Happy Glassin’ Till later……….

Today we plan on cooking out kabobs, just a day of rest and relaxation.  We have had gorgeous weather, I hope everyone has had a great long holiday weekend, and been enjoying getting outside.  Before we know it the white fluffy stuff will be flying again.
Please check back about mid-week, I’ll post if I will be going to Elkhart Lake Artisan Market on Saturday morning.  I watch what the weather is going to be like first before making a decision.  Due to the fact that we were there one Saturday this season, when it had been quite breezy, and I lost a panel…  😦    Glass is pretty resilient but certainly doesn’t ‘bounce’ well.
